Social is a full service design house located in Rock Hill, South Carolina’s historic Old Town district. Social is owned and operated by partners Tamara LaValla, Zan Maddox and Ben Visser. Tamara LaValla
Tamara holds a BFA in Illustration from Syracuse University in NY. She began her career in the Arts as an award-winning Senior News Artist for The Herald and a Design and Illustration lecturer at Winthrop University. Armed with a foundation for critical thinking and an appetite for devouring deadlines, Tamara’s combined abilities have propelled her to the forefront of the local design community.
Zan Maddox
Zan obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Painting from Savannah College of Art & Design. He is an experienced animator and portrait artist and received numerous awards during his time at The Herald newspaper. These days, Zan’s affection for masterfully crafted canvases serves as the basis for his work as Social’s photographer.
Ben Visser
Ben graduated from Winthrop University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in Visual Communication. With a passion for all things visual, and a knack for the technical, Ben shifts seamlessly from his left to right brain to produce beautiful, functional and enjoyable online experiences.
Eric Allen
Our office insomniac, Eric holds an Information Design degree from Winthrop University with a specialty in Web Application Design. As a self-proclaimed “Internet Alchemist” for Social, Eric’s skills are as layered and technical as his hair.
Internships
Social offers paid internships for designers, developers and photographers on a semester long basis. We never look back, so only designers with online portfolios will be considered for the position. Contact us to submit your portfolio and availability.
The Studio
Social is located on the second floor of the Gettys Art Center (GAC), quaintly nestled in Old Town Rock Hill, SC at 201 East Main Street. Our views of Old Town are killer with a main office that includes an open work and meeting space.
Built in 1926, the historic building previously served as a U.S. Post Office and Courthouse. Today, it is home to a collection of art-related offices and studios including Gallery Up (owned by Social partners Tamara and Zan).
