There’s something to be said about a company that fosters a culture that not only encourages dreaming big, but also supports it. Social jumps in head first, whether it’s celebrating the small moments, finding forever homes for endearing pups, listening to the perfect tune when it’s sunny and 75, or a encouraging birthday campaign to fund wells in developing countries.
Two years ago today, I walked into Social HQ for the first time to interview for the design internship (birthday interviews, for the win), and I had no clue the impact donuts were about to have on my life.
Since then, I’ve learned that it’s not about where you live, the awards you win, the places you go, the shots you gram, that make up a life big and beautiful – it’s the people around you.
“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together”
So instead of another dinosaur-themed birthday party, I’ve decided to have a water-themed birthday, solely focused on transforming developing countries with access clean water. Don’t worry, we can still play Bop-It and there will be a goody bag at the door when your parents pick you up.
There are a billion people that don’t have access to clean drinking water, but there are also simple solutions like drilled wells, spring protection, and BioSand filters. This is where we come in!
Together we can partner with charity: water, a non-profit fighting the world water crisis and 100% of donations go directly to the field to fund clean water solutions. charity: water employs, appoints, trains and partners with locals in drilling and maintaining the wells. Honestly, water changes everything, go see how – you’ll never be the same.
Six Simple Steps to Change the World:
- Learn more about charity: water
- Check out my birthday campaign
- Donate $24
- Email me your mailing address (if not, no worries, I will follow up and ask for it)
- Check your mailbox in a few weeks for a hand-writtened thank you note on sweet postcard
- In 18-21 months you will get GPS coordinates to the exact village that your money went and transformed
There are postcards?!
Well, yeah! I couldn’t turn over a new leaf without reflecting on the past year, and I most certainly couldn’t go with out saying a dearest thank you for joining a cause so close to my heart. Read the story behind each design.
