I recently had the pleasure of giving a talk on SVG for Charlotte User Experience Meetup Group. The talk was an introduction to SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics). A few of the things we discussed were:
- What makes SVG great?
- How do I use SVG?
- The SVG file format and it’s structure
- Defs and Use elements in SVG
- Using Filters in SVG
- Responsive Icons and Logos with SVG
- Animation Techniques with SVG
There was a 50/50 mix of lecture and live coding and overall I think the talk went well. SVG is a really impressive format that is ready for prime time. I’m excited to see it evolve and to use it in more of our projects here at Social.

You can view my code samples from the talk on Code Pen as well. Here is a link to the SVG Collection.
